Inspiration mixed with Crane & CO Photography
Sometimes I am completely inspired by my surroundings. On a shopping trip a few months ago - looking to add to my Nutcracker collection for Christmas ... I stumbled upon the most magical NUTCRACKER I had ever seen. This particular Nutcracker was adorned with the most gorgeous slate grey velvet and had mixed textures in gold, silver, black and FAUX FUR. I knew right away that I indeed needed to make a dress inspired from this magical find. I rushed back to my studio and began to draft out what is our now "Miracle" Gown and our "Blair" Velvet and faux fur cloak. I have never been so inspired by colors and textures so much as I was on this very day.
When we finished out our new designs - we then knew we needed the PERFECT photographer and model to bring this vision to life. Rachel of Crane & CO Photography has been one of our fave photographers to follow. When she reached out to us - we instantly knew right away ... she was a perfect fit to our vision. Everything was a complete surprise to us. From model, to location, to the magical snow. I was blown away with every single capture from Rachel. Somehow with just one email - I had known Miracle and Blair were meant to visit her BUT I had no idea just how true that statement was until opening up the portrait gallery.
What started out as a vision inspired from my most cherished childhood memory the "Nutcracker" - has truly become my most favorite series of portraits combined with our designs. To me the Nutcracker represents power and strength - protection. They are whimsical and full of character and charm. All things I love and what is important to me in life and in my business. The Nutcracker Ballet was the one memory from my childhood that I held onto tightly and have always kept with me - even as an adult. Who knew something as simple as this - would be the basis for two of my favorite designs we have done this year.
Partnering with Rachel has truly been a dream. She is an internationally published, Utah based family, kids, high school senior, commercial, fashion and editorial photographer with a special emphasis in children's portraiture. She has been shooting professionally since 2010 and has a photo studio in Bountiful, Utah. She received her training through various mentorships and classes and taught herself how to do photoshop all on her own and she is a member of Intermountain Professional Photographers Association and Professional Photographers Association. Her style is best described as modernly whimsical yet she tends to gravitate towards more candid and lifestyle shots for families and more artistically creative styles for kids. Various pieces of her work have been published and featured on Young Fashion Kids, Momazine, La Belle Kidz, Magnificient, Hooligans, Party Style Magazine and Snap Maven. She currently resides along the Wasatch Front of Utah with her husband and two children. She believes in magic, love and STILL has an imagination as an adult woman and she absolutely loves her job.
When you read above about Rachel it should be no surprise as to why we were so drawn to her. We connect and adore others who live their life through imagination and love for all things fun and whimsical. You are never too old to chase dreams, believe in magic, and have an imagination so big that it drives you towards your passions. I think these characteristics in a person are absolutely amazing and I think it also shows through their work. Rachel is a visionary. Our emails were very short and simple. Full of excitement to collaborate and start this fun magical adventure. She absolutely captured what our Miracle and Blair pieces were all about.
If you are looking for an amazing Utah based photographer - we encourage you to check out Rachel.
