Simplicity mixed with bohemian – high fashion. Is there such a thing? Of course there is. One thing at B+L we love more than anything (even lace) … is mixing simple silhouettes with mixtures of fabric options and textures. We also believe that bohemian vibes can absolutely work with high fashion edginess. Recently we teamed up with, Elizabeth Russo-Ugarkovich, of Eliza Russo Photography, for an amazing conceptual styled shoot. When we began discussing the shoot – I instantly loved her styling mindset. I loved that she was thinking incredibly outside of the box but her vision was absolutely inline with her brand. As you know – at B+L we have a love affair with all things bohemian….and yes LACE. But, we also love high fashion. We love bold prints, hand sewn embroidered fabrics, but we also love that high fashion is all about trend-setting, unique, and exclusive. While Bohemian is definitely more care-free, whimsical – we absolutely love how our whimsical designs can be put together in a way that mergers bohemian and high fashion vibes.
For this particular styled shoot we opted with these pieces:
PENELOPE Faux fur Shaw which can be found here
NORAH green skirt which can be found here
We paired our DILLION top with our NORAH skirt which can be found here
RIVER vintage champagne satin which can be found herehere
We paired our RAINE top with our RIVER skirt which can be found here
Our Ava blush pink high low skirt which can be found here
We paired our Ryan top with our Ava skirt which can be found here
We also added our VIVIAN ruffled collar which can be found here
For this styled shoot – Elizabeth also partnered with,Robin Hagy Photography – People, who is also an amazingly talented photographer. HMUA was done by the amazing, Ernesto Robledo, who is truly a visionary. Model Lily was an absolute dream for this shoot. She brought to life each of our pieces. Her vintage vibes and her amazingly gorgeous red hair- truly brought together the bohemian vibes mixed with high fashion edginess.
The location + fashion+ model + imagery artistry + HMUA – were truly a match made in heaven. When thinking about your next styled shoot – think outside the box. It is so easy to go with the norm of “princess shoots” but remember our items can also be used in a very high fashion – edgier vibe. Think about color mixing as well. Pair accessories that are a contrasting color. Much like you see with our pieces – we love the mixture of textures as well as colors. Think about accessorizing the model to enhance her features – such as using a ruffle collar to enhance her face. Think about using faux fur to drape around shoulders in order to create a more strong/bold look. We also truly believe that HMUA is a vital part to any styled shoot. The HMUA can absolutely transform the overall vibe of the session. In this case, Ernesto was truly amazing. With the mix of more artistic/bold HMUA – it completely transformed this shoot from a normal “princess” shoot to a more “high fashion” and artistic session.
Meet Elizabeth Russo-Ugarkovich, of Eliza Russo Photography:
Elizabeth is truly an artist! Eliza (or Liz) is passionate about photographing senior portraits and is also an amazing conceptual photographer. Liz much like us at B+L feels that self-confidence can be so fragile for younger girls. Her emphasis being (Senior sessions) – she feels they compare themselves to unrealistic, heavily photoshopped pictures of celebrities in magazines and it’s easy to feel intimidated. Liz feels those pictures aren’t real. They are fantasies. Liz loves showing “her girls” how gorgeous they really are –and no, it’s not Photoshop. It’s lighting and angles and real expressions. When you’re relaxed and having fun in front of the camera, you will see your authentic beauty captured through her lens. The best compliment she hears is when someone looks at the back of her camera and say, “Wow! Is that really me? I’m beautiful!” It happens all the time and every time it gives her goose bumps. I think this is one of the reasons we were so drawn to her work. At B+L we absolutely love seeing young girls find their inner confidence.
Model, Lily Joy, is a beautiful red head and she has taken the modeling world by storm. She has modeled for many amazing photographers including Angelika, Elizabeth Russo Photography, Work of Heart Photography and so many more. Lily Joy is described as a fiery, spunky redhead that enjoys modeling and acting and resides in sunny California. As many of you know – I absolutely adore redheads. I love their spunk, and beautiful freckles. I find their beauty to be so unique and captivating. We see Lily truly taking off in her career and look forward to seeing her continue to chase her dreams.
