Chloe was born on July 8,2009.. weighing in at 5lbs 9oz…. At the time she did not pass her hearing test and our doctor told us not to worry. So around age 1.5 yrs old she starting having chronic ear infections… 9 to be exact. She ended up having surgery to put tubes in.. and at her follow up appointment they did a hearing test, well she failed. Couple of months later she failed again… So they said she needed a hearing test at Levine’s children’s hospital in Charlotte. She had to be sedated for it. I remember waiting in the lobby and wondering why it was taking so long . Then they came and got us … We sat down for a review of her hearing test. The Audiologist told us that she has moderate to severe hearing loss In both ears . I was shocked! My heart broke that my child would need hearing aids for the rest of her life!! We started going to a speech therapist and Chloe finally started talking and things were going good! She did great in kindergarten thru first grade, but second grade was a set back. She was getting picked on because of her hearing aids and because she was so tall! Her height prediction is 6ft!! Her grades dropped and she would come home everyday crying. My heart broke !! So I decided to homeschool this year for third grade, and she is doing much better. She is a strong girl who has endured many many tests, ear cleanings, hearing tests, and MRIs! She doesn’t let her disability become her disability!! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for her!!
